Disc herniation
Disc herniation is a disease caused by spinal cord compression with projection of nucleus pulposus of intervertebral disc.
It is categorized based on projection shape and case as follows.
Category I of disc herniation (Hansen classification)
Hansen I type with acute symptoms
Hansen II type with chronic condition
Disc herniation type II (Grade)

Laser treatment for disc herniation
As laser treatment for disc herniation, there are laser therapy, which cures symptom with external laser irradiation, and PLDD treatment, which radiation treatment with laser fiber inside needle aims directly at nucleus pulposus.
Either treatment is decided depending on shape and symptom of disc herniation.
Therapy treatment
Regardless Hansen category, laser therapy is effective for grade 1, 2 and 3.
The operation is only five minutes without anesthesia.
Treatment twice a week is needed for certain period of time.
Therapeutic effect is often shown gradually, and sometimes it is no effect.
Recurrence often occurs since only pain and inflammation is reduced. It is considered that disc herniation is not completely cured.
Low body burden treatment is the biggest advantage.
PLDD
It is effective for grade 1,2,3 and 4 of Hansen Category II.
It is one time 30 minutes operation with general anesthesia. Therapeutic effect is shown in a week.
Recurrence possibility is low, and it is possible to cure multiple disc herniation with one time operation.
It is also used for prevention recently.
It is lower body burden without cutting the bone, but it is necessary to discern appropriate adaptation.
【Points of medical treatment】
Grade 5 requires surgery urgently, and it presses spinal cord and sometimes life-threatening.
Type and symptom is decided with image inspection of X-ray, CT and MRI and examination.
It is recommendable to start with low body burden treatment.
Pain relief/wound healing
It is known that laser reduces pain and inflammation, and hastens wound healing.
30 seconds to 5 minutes treatment for each disc herniation once or twice a week needs to be continued for a certain period of time.
Therapeutic effect often shows up with one to 5 times treatment. There is no drug side effect.
It is recently reported that higher laser shows higher effect.
